Job Description : BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE (SUMMARY):

The Safety Manager is responsible to the CEO and the Accountable Manager (AM) for the day-to-day management functions of the Safety Management System (SMS). He/she is responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of an effective SMS. He/she advises the CEO, the AM and line managers on matters regarding safety management and is responsible for coordinating and communicating safety issues within the organisation, as well as with external agencies, contractors and stakeholders as appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties of the post holder are detailed below, however this is notan exhaustive list of all duties required and is not listed in order of priority.
• Managing the SMS on behalf of the AM

• Performing/facilitating hazard identification and safety risk analysis

• Performing/facilitating safety investigations

• Development of safety cases

• Conducting safety audits

• Monitoring corrective actions

• Provision of advice to the CEO and AM on all safety issues

• Maintain a close working relationship with ADAC airport safety; providing assistance and guidance where possible and when requested

• Chairing regular safety meetings / visits at all locations

• Providing periodic reports on the organization’s safety performance

• Maintaining records, data collection and safety documentation

• Planning, organizing and undertaking staff safety training

• Providing independent advice on safety matters

• Monitoring safety concerns in the aviation industry and their perceived impact on GAL operations aimed at service delivery

Experience : Minimum Qualification:
• Appropriate Degree, Diploma or Certificate or relevant professional experience in this field.

• Completed a recognised Accident/Incident Investigation course

• Completed a recognised Safety Management System course

• Candidates should support their experience and qualifications with attested Certificates appropriate to their discipline.
